Calzedonia was founded in 1986 close to Verona, in Vallese di Oppeano, with the aim to create a new way of selling hosiery and beachwear for women, men and children, through a franchising sales network. Little more than twenty years later, the Calzedonia network boasts more than 1.650 shops throughout the world. The Calzedonia Group now numbers approximately 23,000 employees worldwide, about 3,000 of which are based in Italy. Calzedonia stands out for its vertical structure: the development, production and distribution of every single product is handled either directly or through affiliates. All sales are through one-brand stores that are managed either directly, as franchises or by foreign distributors. The results speak of an extremely dynamic company that is increasingly geared towards internationalization. Since 2023, Calzedonia Group has become Oniverse.
The Challenge
In 2004, whilst in the midst of the rapid expansion of Calzedonia (which still continues today) we realized that to handle the increasing volume of CVs we were receiving, we would have to equip ourselves with a practical and professional recruiting platform that matched the requirements of a retail industry company. We scouted for potential vendors in the market but no proposal was able to satisfy us. In the end we evaluated Altamira and found it was the most complete and easy to use platform and was priced very competitively.
The Solution
Altamira Recruiting allowed us to stop managing email and worksheets and to focus on the recruitment of candidates. With a professional career site and better communication with candidates we have improved our employer branding and reduced recruiting time. We have extended the use of Altamira Recruiting to all countries in which Calzedonia operates homogenizing the recruiting process and giving foreign colleagues the tools they need to grow the talent pool.
