The Challenge
When Monica joined the company, the only HR software in use was a basic time-tracking system. Everything else—from recruitment to training—was handled manually with Excel spreadsheets and other generic tools, stored in shared server folders.

The Most Valued Features
Opyn’s Head of HR highlighted several features the company relies on most, along with suggestions for further improvements:
- Time and attendance tracking. Compared to Opyn’s previous system, Altamira offers far greater customization. The ability to track who is present or absent has been particularly useful for workplace safety, while automated exports and reporting tools have made payroll processing much smoother. However, the system is less flexible when it comes to attendance classifications, sometimes requiring manual adjustments for more complex cases.
- Budget management. The platform’s ability to allocate and track a training budget, including government-funded programs, has been a major asset in planning the company’s annual learning initiatives. Expenses are automatically deducted as they are logged, making financial oversight much more efficient.
- Employee development. Opyn follows an annual performance review process with multiple interim feedback sessions (catch-ups), which Altamira supports well. The platform provides a detailed history of employee goals and growth, though a visual dashboard would make it even easier to track progress at a glance.
